IBC2024: Latest Products From Sony, SmallHD, SWIT, Fujinon, and Astera

Cameras and lighting are the backbone of media production, which is why they take a huge stage at the annual International Broadcasting Convention. The event where the industry’s top companies showcase their most innovative and cutting-edge technologies.
At IBC2024, Sony, SmallHD, SWIT, Fujinon, and Astera showcased the latest additions to their portfolios, with both recently released products and those launched during the event.
Sony PDT-FP1 Portable data transmitter
Sony PDT-FP1 is a portable data transmitter with 5G, mmwave and sub6 capabilities designed for professionals to transfer video and photos from Sony cameras stably, quickly and with low latency. It enhances workflow in any setting, whether it’s a live event, sports event, or wedding celebration.
The device allows you to quickly and reliably transfer images and videos to an FTP server or Sony’s cloud services, such as Ci Media Cloud or the C3 Portal cloud platform.
SmallHD Ultra 7 ja 10 monitors
SmallHD came up with new additions to their monitor collection.
The Ultra 7 offers 2300nits of brightness, 6G-SDI that allow users to ingest 4K signal, a 2-Pin power passthrough for cleaner builds, an Ethernet port for camera control, plus a joystick and tactile physical buttons for control in any conditions. Utilize all your favorite PageOS tools, functions, and settings pages on a fully-loaded 7-inch touchscreen monitor.
Ultra 10 is the largest touchscreen monitor the company has ever made. SWIT Cimo series
The leader in batteries for the broadcast and film industries, SWIT, launched its new CIMO battery series. This latest offering is designed to meet the diverse needs of today’s technology-driven world, combining high capacity, versatility, and robust performance.
The CIMO battery series includes four models. Each model is engineered with specific use cases in mind, providing varying capacities to cater to different power requirements:
- CIMO-98S: 98Wh, 6.8Ah
- CIMO-160S: 160Wh, 11.1Ah
- CIMO-200S: 196Wh, 13.6Ah
- CIMO-290S: 290Wh, 20.1Ah
These batteries operate at a rated voltage of 14.4V (11V-16.8V), ensuring stable and reliable power output for a wide range of devices. All batteries have USB-C 65W output for laptops and various on-camera devices, as well as 60W input for quick charging time.
The CIMO series ensures continuous power supply even in extreme conditions, with a comprehensive safety protection system covering temperature, voltage, and current. Modular structural design enhances durability, making these batteries suitable for demanding environments.
Fujinon Duvo HZK14-100mm
Like its predecessors, the newly available DUVO HZK14-100mmT2.9-3.9 Portable PL Mount Zoom Lens produces a cinematic look while offering the ease of broadcast lens operation.
DUVO 14-100mm supports dual large image sensors, covering 14mm at the wide angle to 100mm in Super 35mm, and 21-150mm in Large Format with its built-in 1.5x Expander. The lens achieves 7.1x zoom, and, at 10.5” (266.9mm) in length and weighing only 5.6 lbs. (2.54kg), is the smallest and lightest in the DUVO Series.
The lens facilitates immersive storytelling in various environments, such as capturing the entire stage at a concert, or getting an intimate closeup of an athlete at a sporting venue.
Astera LunaBulb Accessories Kit
With the LunaBulb Accessory Kit, you turn your LED practicals into precise, fully contrallable luminaires.
With the Accessory Kit, you get:
- LunaReflectors for a more directional punch
- LunaLenses for a slightly diffused texture
- LunaDiffusors for a direct-view dome look
- LunaSnoots to increase the contrast
- LunaShades to selectively block or texturize the beam
The kit includes four LunaReflector, a click-on attachment for LunaBulb’s slim look that increases the output and reduces the beam angle. It allows for a naked look, a diffuse PAR-like look via LunaLens, or a NYX Bulb look via the LunaDiffusor.
Adding LunaSnoot to the LunaReflector avoids any stray light disturbances on viewer’s eyes or in the camera’s lens. LunaShade is an innovative solution to block LunaBulb’s incidence on actors, props or walls, while keeping the organic mood of traditional lamps.
