Media powerhouse constantly seeks ways to enhance content delivery

Sanoma Media Finland is the proprietor of one of Finland’s largest news media, Ilta-Sanomat (IS). This media house is responsible for generating a substantial volume of daily news and other entertainment content for its audiences.

IS, in its print and digital formats, offers extensive news coverage across a diverse spectrum of subjects including national and international news, politics, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and much more. ISTV provides news, documentaries, interviews, and other video content through its popular browser-based platforms.

The Customer desired a flexible and automated content workflow to swiftly transform the latest ISTV videos into a concise broadcast-ready linear TV compilation program. This approach would not only expand the reach of the video content but also provide convenient means for viewers to stay updated with the most current news through engaging video content via TV channels.

How does it work in action?

First, IS representative applies specific tags to desired videos within our media management platform. Through Media Tailor’s automation, the interface is scanned for videos that meet specific criteria. The criteria involve searching for multiple instances of a specific tag, with a maximum of three clips fitting into a five-minute compilation slot.

Videos matching the criteria are retrieved from the library and compiled together. The audio levels are adjusted to ensure consistency, and the clips are seamlessly merged with a predetermined five-minute background clip. The final output is then transferred to the transmission system and automatically updated for broadcasting.

The customer receives a completed compilation along with a text report detailing the utilized videos. Additionally, a preview version is provided to allow the customer to verify the accuracy of the compilation.
