Media Pocket is an integral part of FAME Platform

Media Tailor has developed a service platform Media Pocket that helps in creating completely new ways of experiencing music in a museum.

Visitors to the Finnish Music Hall of Fame will use applications to enjoy the musical elements – all content will be accessed and published using Media Pocket. The museum’s collaboration with Media Tailor will take museum experiences to the next level as all media and unique archives will be secured in one place.

Their media library gives museum visitors the ability to access all video, audio and data through our apps.

Creating the perfect solution

Finnish technology plays a big role in the way a music museum is representing its exhibition. As Finnish high-tech is giving the museum more possibilities in offering new virtual ways of experiencing music, dance and song at the same time music museum is showcasing Finnish technology companies.

The project began in 2018 via a bidding contest, where FAME was looking for partners to design and create the FAME PLATFORM, the cloud service and media library behind it all, which enables high-quality content and publishing management. FAME chose Media Tailor as the technological partner to deliver this system. The project began in January 2019 and was handed over in October 2019 as Mall of Tripla and FAME opened their doors to the public.

The project was executed using agile software development and DevOps methods as part of Media Tailor’s continuous production workflow. A dedicated Product Owner was assigned for FAME Platform who also is in charge of developing Media Tailor’s cloud services portfolio. A software development team consisting of various specialists made sure the user interface as well as all functions and integrations were properly coded. The media management system – Media Pocket – was developed from scratch by Media Tailor and it’s at the core of FAME Platform.

Media Pocket makes it possible for FAME Platform to normalize, archive and organize media assets in a great way. Additionally, all files are safe and fast to access. A centralized platform saves a lot of time for us.

Media Tailor was part of FAME’s project group, which consisted of various collaboration partners and which also met at regular intervals to update all stakeholders of project development. This helped to make sure the successful execution of the entire FAME project as schedules and status was known to everyone involved. As the exhibition material started to come together, Media Tailor assisted in the onboarding of FAME Platform.

Media Tailor’s Product Owner met users and stakeholders regularly during the project. This was crucial for the success, as, on one hand, we had to make sure to take everyone’s views and expectations into consideration, but on the other, we had to manage them. The onboarding of Media Pocket was done with proper introduction and continuous support.

FAME opened its doors to the public on October 16th 2019 and the long project was finished successfully. Media Tailor is proud that it had the chance to take part in such a culturally significant and ambitious project.
